This passage in Luke’s Gospel took place at the end of Jesus’ public ministry. It had begun in the synagogue at Nazareth and Luke records the incident, “Now Jesus came to Nazareth, and in three and a half years Jesus and his twelve disciples proclaimed the Gospel of the Kingdom of God throughout Judaea, Galilee and east of the Jordan River from Caesarea Philippi, the Decapolis and Perea and Jerusalem. His fame went throughout all Syria: and they brought unto him all sick people that were taken with various diseases and torments, and those which were suffering with mental diseases and he healed them all. Jesus became very popular with the ordinary people who followed him in great multitudes from Galilee, and from Decapolis, and from Jerusalem, and Judaea, and from beyond Jordan. (Mat 4:23-25)

In this modern world of apparent relative morality, the starting point with regards to the Word of God is one of dismissal, scepticism and doubt. There is a great contrast to the spirit of this age with those who take a different perspective, and instead seek to align themselves with what God has revealed as He shares His intellect with His children and making that the premise of their approach. Such Bible students look for meaning, they dig for it and they glean what they can, and they refine the material and hone it. This we endeavour to do in this presentation.

The newspaper reports refer to teachings by the curate which he claims are derived from the Bible. If you have read any of these reports, you will have noticed allusions to the return of the Jews to Israel as an example of Bible prophecy being fulfilled, and the expectation of the return of Jesus Christ to this earth. You will have read of the establishment of the Kingdom of God on earth and the 1,000 year reign of Christ (known as the Millennium) in which all nations of the world will live in peace and harmony, with a just and honest government and a rejuvenation of the earth to make it like the Garden of Eden. You will also have been made aware of predictions of an approaching. Third World War, described in the book of Revelation as Armageddon.

The previous article on the Gosepl of the Resurrection (28/12/2021), generated further questions, regarding the judgement seat of the Lord Jesus Christ. Some of those questions have been compiled, and are here for reference.
