It is widely believed in the Churches today that the New Testament contains all we need to know about the Gospel message. However, when reading the New Testament, you will soon realise it continually refers to the Old Testament. This shows us that God expects Bible readers to be familiar with both the Old and the New. The Gospel did not just begin at the time of Jesus, but as the Apostle Paul told the first century believers in Galatia (modern day Anatolia in Turkey), it was “preached to Abraham beforehand.” (Galatians 3:8). So have you ever wondered why God gave us the Old Testament?

Written in 1849 shortly after being re-immersed, Dr John Thomas addressed others who were finding out for themselves that their existing associations with the reform movement in Britain and America were inadequate. If there was a crisis over 150 years ago can it be said that the political and ecclesiastical stage has greatly improved with the passing of time? Israel is back in her ancient homeland, Russia dominates the North, the Papal False Prophet continues to deceive, all signs that the following advice can still be taken to heart today in this 21st century, as the Apostles’ Fellowship is surely worth striving after. When Dr John Thomas rediscovered Bible Truth in 1847 he advanced the essential need to get back to the Scriptures in all their illuminating glory in order to share the same gospel as Adam, Abraham, Moses, King David and all the prophets and Apostles, the true Hope of Israel - the Gospel Jesus believed and taught. Dr Thomas was re-immersed in obedience to his new found faith and thus be truly baptised into the name of Jesus Christ. Whoso believeth and is baptised shall be saved.

This doctrine has its foundation in the promises made of God to the fathers of Israel, explained by the prophets; and set forth in the teachings of Christ and his Apostles. It is of prime importance in the plan of salvation revealed in Scripture. However, it's importance is not generally recognised by most religions today. When the truth of the matter is understood, it will be seen that this doctrine has a most vital bearing on our eternal welfare, and the revealed purpose of God. It is the very essence of the Gospel preached by Christ.

The interpretation of the book of Revelation is a matter of great importance, and it is not something upon which those who claim to be the servants of God can differ fundamentally. There is a guiding principle, which applies to all the prophecies of Scripture laid down by the Spirit, and stated clearly by the Apostle Peter:
“No prophecy of the scripture is of any private interpretation; For the prophecy came not in old time by the will of man; but holy men of God spoke as they were moved by the Holy Spirit.”
